A few years ago I picked up a romance book for the first time since I was a teenager and since then I haven't stopped reading romance. About the same time, I also discovered the romance community online and blogs like Dear Author and Smart Bitches Trashy Books. I found myself joining in the discussions online and it occurred to me I had something to say about the books I was reading. And, Kaetrin's Musings was born. I am always pleasantly surprised when when a review I've written inspires another reader to try a new-to-them author or starts a conversation.
I've been blogging for over 2 years now and each month I seem to have more to say. I joined ARRA (the Australian Romance Readers Association) and started reviewing for them too and I also provide audiobook reviews for the Speaking of Audiobooks column at All About Romance and guest reviews for AudioGals. Most recently, I've also started reviewing a couple times a month at Dear Author. I love being part of the community, part of the discussion and I love romance. I read ebooks and print as well as listen on audio. I like adult storylines I would have said YA doesn't interest me but New Adult books like Katie McGarry's Pushing the Limits or Tammara Webber's Easy are just wonderful and have given me a whole new subgenre to explore. I love contemporaries, historicals, paranormals, urban fantasy (with a strong romantic element), romantic suspense, erotic romance, even the occasional inspirational; as long as it has a HEA, I'm usually happy to give it a try. I'm an equal opportunity reader - I love m/m romance as well as m/f and menage (although I'm not a fan of twincest). I love angsty books and funny books, long books and short books. The only thing mandatory is a happy ending.
My favourite authors include: KA Mitchell, Heidi Cullinan, Ilona Andrews, Mary Balogh, Patricia Briggs, Loretta Chase, Laura Kinsale, Nora Roberts, JD Robb, Diana Gabaldon, Shannon McKenna, Victoria Dahl, Jo Beverley, Marie Sexton, Kristen Ashley, Jill Shalvis, Beth Kery, Kate Noble, Meredith Duran, Joanna Bourne, Meljean Brook, Courtney Milan and Sean Kennedy just to name a few.
I live in South Australia with my husband and son and when I'm not reading, I enjoy cooking, music, surfing the web (Twitter!) and spending time with my family. I support marriage equality and I'm looking forward to the day when Australia finally gets on board with that.
I can be contacted at Kaetrin67 AT gmail DOT com. If you're an author and would like me to review your book, please refer to my review policy.
Feel free to look around and join in the conversation :)
